Using Loceryl To Fight Nail Fungus Infections
Loceryl contains the active ingredient amorolfine at 5% strength. This means that each standard sized 5ml bottle of nail lacquer contains 250 mg of amorolfine as it's active ingredient. Amorolfine is an anti-fungal drug that has been clinically proven to be effective at killing a wide variety of nail fungi.
The challenge, however, is getting the antifungal drug into direct contact with the fungus in the nail. As a fungal infection advances, it embeds itself deeper and deeper within the nail structure and can even get underneath the nail itself. So it’s always a good idea to start your treatment as early as possible and take care to apply the treatment in such as a way as to maximize your chances of success. Here are some tips to get you started:
Loceryl nail lacquer comes in a pack containing the 5ml bottle of nail lacquer, application spatulas, cleaning pads saturated with alcohol and nail files. Gather these instruments together before you begin. Then, before you start applying the nail lacquer, file down the infected areas of the nail using the nail file. Don't use the nail file as you normally would, (i.e. filing along the edge of the nail to shorten it), but file the nail surface where the fungus has taken hold. Your goal is to open up the surface of the nail so that the lacquer can penetrate as deep as possible into the nail and come into direct contact with the fungus.
After cleaning the nail with one of the alcohol soaked cleaning pads, dip one of the provided spatulas into the Loceryl bottle. The spatulas are reusable and each provides a measured does of Loceryl. (It’s important, therefore, not to wipe the spatula on the neck of the bottle as this will alter the Loceryl dose). Using the spatula, paint the Loceryl nail lacquer over the entire surface of the infected nail. Then, while you are allowing your nail to dry out completely, use the cleaning pad to clean the spatula so it can be re-used for your next application.
Loceryl should be applied one or twice weekly to all infected toenails and for finger nail fungus. The treatment time can be long. Fungal infections of the toenail for example can take up to 12 months to cure completely. This is the length of time it normally takes for a new, healthy nail to grow out.
Other popular topical nail treatments to consider are Fungicure, Tineacide, Zetaclear and Funginix.
